Google could be launching an Android home entertainment system

We’ve seen Android make its way into smartphones, tablets and even portable media players, but what about home entertainment systems? Well according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, it seems that Google could be interested in taking their mobile operating system and implanting it within a home entertainment system, albeit a modified version of what you might expect from smartphones and tablets.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is somewhat similar to what Google had demonstrated at Google I/O last year with their Android@Home project. While this cannot be confirmed for now, the report also seems to suggest that the home entertainment system will allow streaming of music from any device over a wireless network, and will most likely see tight integration with Google Music, Android and Google TV. What do you guys think? Would you enjoy seeing Android power a home entertainment system, not to mention will there be apps designed for such a system? That would be interesting.
