Samsung GT-i9070 spotted at the FCC, may head to China instead

Some time last month, a Samsung phone with the model GT-i9070 made an appearance on the WiFi Certification site, Samsung’s User Agent Profile site and lately it seems to have cleared the FCC sporting GSM/EDGE bands 850 and 1900. Based on the appearance of the device that was leaked (pictured above), it would appear as though the Samsung GT-i9070 is a variant of the company’s Galaxy S2, albeit a lower-end variant.

Based on its specs, the GT-i9070 features a 1GHz processor (unknown if it is dual or single core), an 800×480 display, 6GB of internal storage, a 5MP camera with LED flash and will run on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. While Samsung has yet to officially unveil the device (perhaps at MWC 2012?), it seems that signs are pointing at the GT-i9070 headed China’s way, although it should be noted that its GSM/EDGE radio bands make it a candidate for AT&T’s network as well, although some argue that it is unlikely since AT&T already has a Samsung Galaxy S2, and a lower-end variant wouldn’t make much sense.
