RedPad tablet appears to be exclusively available for the Chinese government

If you happen to be working in the Chinese government, there is a chance that you could very well get your hands on the RedPad, a tablet that apparently has been built for the Chinese government in mind and has also been customized in such a way for the 3,000 or so members of China’s congress.

Based on its specs, it does not appear to be too shabby in nature. It features a 9.7” display with a resolution of 1024×768, a Tegra 2 processor with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and will run on Android’s Honeycomb 3.2. Like we said, it’s not too shabby but apparently its asking price is that of a whopping 9,999 RMB (~$1,580), which is about three times the price of a regular WiFi-only iPad!

We guess its exclusivity and the fact that it comes with an embossed leather case could have contributed to its premium price, but certainly not by that much. It has also been manufactured by a Chinese manufacturer that seems to be relatively unknown. Either way don’t expect to be able to get your hands on this at all.
