iPhone 5 rumored to be in production, might see a summer launch

While Apple’s next-generation iPhone (likely to be known as the iPhone 5) is about 9-10 months away from being released (assuming that Apple keeps to schedule), it seems that rumors of the device have started to surface, and this particular rumor is courtesy of a Foxconn employee working at the plant in China.

According to this employee, it seems that production of the iPhone 5 is gearing up for production with varied samples floating around, but one thing in common with these samples is a 4+” display (LG is rumored to be one of the manufacturers), a device symmetrical in thickness (no more teardrop shape), and apparently does not look anything like the iPhone 4/4S and does not seem to be the final version.

Of course with most if not all Apple rumors, it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now, but 9to5 Mac seems to think that if production is indeed gearing up this early in the year, Apple could be set to introduce the new iPhone 5 during the summer at their WWDC event, an event at which Apple has typically launched their new iPhones with the exception of the iPhone 4S.
