iPad 3 to sport Retina display, quad-core processor and LTE? (Rumor)

Apple’s iPad is due for a refresh. Some are pointing some time in March but with most, if not all Apple rumors, they should probably be taken with large amounts of salt until we actually see the device for ourselves. Either way, it appears that Bloomberg has reported on some details regarding Apple’s iPad 3 that seem to corroborate previous rumors surrounding the highly anticipated tablet.

According to their report, Bloomberg is saying that the iPad 3 will not only feature a brand new quad-core processor (possibly to match/potentially rival the ASUS Transformer Prime), but will also feature a Retina display along with LTE connectivity. This is rather interesting given how Apple has tended to stray away from LTE due to the massive amount of battery LTE chipsets tend to drain. However it is also possible that the newer generation of LTE chipsets may have proven themselves to be more efficient, at least as far as Apple is concerned.

Once again, we suggest you take this report/rumor with a grain of salt until Apple officially unveils the device. When will this take place? We can’t really say, but Q1 of 2012 is a pretty safe bet based on the previous two releases of the iPad and the iPad 2.
