Google announced their plans to acquire Motorola Mobility some time last year. Unfortunately the deal has not yet been approved by the EU Commission, which means that everything is still pretty much up in the air, much like AT&T/T-Mobile’s merger deal which eventually saw itself fall apart due to the immense opposition behind the merger. Well for those looking forward to seeing Google throw their weight behind Motorola Mobility officially, the date to look forward to is the 13th of February which is when the EU Commission is expected to release their verdict on the acquisition. Interestingly it should also be noted that the Google/Motorola Mobility deal is also being looked at by US anti-trust regulators, whose report could also play a vital role in determining the success/failure of this deal.
