G-Form Extreme Edge lets iPad survive drop from 100,000 feet

We’ve known for awhile now that G-Form enjoys taking things to extremes when it comes to testing out how effective its protective cases are. Well, the company’s latest test is no exception. Putting an iPad into the G-Form Extreme Edge case, they took it to the middle of the desert, attached it to a balloon and camera, and sent it up about 100,000 feet into the sky. After spending a short while high up in the sky, the balloon burst, sending the tablet hurtling towards the ground.

While it was pointless to take the tablet any higher than it did to reach terminal velocity, it did make for a showy video, which I guess was the whole point of it. And as the case with the other G-Form videos – the iPad returns to earth from the 100,000-foot drop unscathed – still playing the video it was playing on its way up. While most of us aren’t going to put our iPad through such situations, I guess we can rest assured that if we had a G-Form case and something similar happens in the future – we’d be safe.
