Zephyr iOS tweak offers MeeGo-styled multitasking

If you feel that iOS’s “multitasking” feature is a bit clumsy, you can rest assured to know that you won’t be the only one. The good news is that thanks to the iOS jailbreaking community, particularly develop chpwn, a new form of multitasking is now available for jailbroken iPhones which seems to have been inspired by the Nokia N9’s MeeGo operating system.

The tweak is known as “Zephyr” and it has brought about several new features to the jailbroken iOS. For starters for those who have used the iPad or the Nokia N9, you will be familiar with the swiping up gesture which will ultimately reveal the multitasking tray (which can be similarly achieved by double tapping the home button). The Zephyr tweak will also allow users to switch between apps by swiping from far left/far right.

It does sound pretty useful but we have yet to give this a shot ourselves. However if you are interested, you will be able to get Zephyr from Cydia for $2.99. Based on the demonstration video below, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple “borrowed” this idea for the iPhone in the future.
