For those shopping for a tablet as a Christmas present, SKYTEX Technology has taken the wraps off their brand new Android tablet, the SKYPAD Alpha 2. Supposedly arriving in time for the Christmas holidays, the SKYPAD Alpha 2 will feature a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM with a Mali-400 GPU on board. It will sport a 7” 800×480 touch screen display, 4GB of internal storage with support for microSD and with Android’s Gingerbread 2.3.4 on board.

The good news is that SKYTEX has apparently promised that the SKYPAD Alpha 2 will be receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update early 2012. Apart from that, the tablet will also feature a VGA-quality front-facing camera and a USB slot for connecting external peripherals. It is expected to start shipping come 20th of December 2011, no word on pricing but based on these specs, we don’t expect it to be too expensive.
