Police in UK told to stop charging their phones at work to cut down on electricity costs

Exactly how much electricity does charging our phones take? Well, it seems that over in the UK, officers and civilian staff in Sussex have been told not to charge their phones, iPods or any other electrical item (i.e. personal items) during work in hopes of slashing their electricity bills.

It appears that the police force in the UK needs to find about 50 million worth of savings, which is about 20% of their overall budget for 2015, and it appears that by not charging their phones or electronic devices at work, it could possibly lead to more savings. We’re guessing this could be a huge inconvenience given how fast our smartphones and tablets die today due to the amount of data they process, but it according to a Sussex Police spokesperson, “offers were supportive of the plans”.
