No iPhone 4S for China Unicom yet

While it seems like those living in China might get the Android 4.0 update for the Xiaomi phone soon, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the iPhone 4S. It seems that China Unicom will not be getting the iPhone 4S despite what some sites had originally reported. As it turns out the carrier will instead be getting their hands on the 8GB version of the iPhone 4, but according to the carrier, the iPhone 4S is still part of their plans and is currently awaiting approval.

What this means is that if and when the iPhone 4S gets its approval, throw in the time needed to create promotional materials and creating the hype, those who are looking forward to seeing the iPhone 4S on China Unicom’s network by the end of the year could be disappointed. However Penn Olsen has officially predicted that the iPhone 4S could launch any time from now until the 5th of January, so keep your eyes peeled, although we suggest you don’t get your hopes up just yet.
