Motorola Xyboard hits the FCC with AT&T radios

We know that the Motorola Droid Xyboard will be making its way onto Verizon’s network, and given how its earlier FCC filings showed GSM/EDGE/WCDMA network capabilities disabled by firmware, it appeared as though the Xyboard tablet would be a Verizon exclusive. As it turns out that may not be the case after all.

A new FCC filing has revealed that the 10.1” Xyboard has made its way to the FCC and this time round it appears to support both GSM 850 and 1900 bands, essentially making it compatible with AT&T’s 2G and 3G networks. Unfortunately it did not mention anything about AT&T’s LTE network which would be a pity if the tablet did arrive on AT&T but was just limited to 3G speeds. The smaller Xyboard (or the Xoom 2 Media Edition) has yet to be seen but we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time.

Perhaps Verizon could be getting an exclusive on the Xyboard but only for a while before AT&T releases their version. We have to wonder if AT&T will be keeping the Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Editions or if they will follow in Verizon’s footsteps instead.
