Meizu MX unveiled, looks pretty good

For those unaware, Meizu’s MX has officially been unveiled, a phone which the company has boasted in the past that could give Apple’s iPhone a run for its money. Those words have been spoken many times over but we guess seeing is believing. The “MX” in its name is actually part of the Chinese word for “dream”, or “Meng Xiang”, which leads us to believe that Meizu created a “dream” phone that will appeal to everyone across the board.

In terms of hardware, we’re looking at a 1.4GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM under the hood. It will feature a 4” AVS display, an 8MP rear-facing camera, Android’s Gingerbread 2.3.5 on board with Meizu’s own “Flyme OS” as its UI of choice, and will come loaded with Android Market and Meizu’s own app store. It is expected to hit the Chinese market in time for New Year and will be priced at 2,999 CNY which is about $473 give or take.

Worried about the device not sporting Ice Cream Sandwich? Fret not as Meizu’s CEO has promised that the Android 4.0 would be arriving on the handset “soon”, although no specific dates were mentioned. We have no idea if the device will be arriving stateside, although given its hardware specifications, it does look like a handset many would not mind owning.
