For those living in Hong Kong or China, the good news is that Meizu has officially launched the Meizu MX device. The official launch date will be on the 1st of January 2012 and it will be launched simultaneously at both Meizu’s China and Hong Kong’s stores. Unfortunately the price of the Meizu MX was not mentioned in its press release, but if it is going to be priced anything like its predecessor, the Meizu M9, it shouldn’t be all too expensive.

A quick recap for those who might have forgotten, the Meizu MX will feature a dual-core 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 processor with 1GB of RAM and will come with 16GB of internal storage. It will also feature a 4” 640×960 touchscreen display, an 8MP rear-facing camera capable of recording 1080p Full HD quality videos, a VGA front-facing camera and will come with Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 on board.

The good news for those looking forward to Android 4.0 is that Meizu has promised that an upgrade to Android 4.0 has been planned for some time later in the year, although no specific dates were mentioned. Alternatively Meizu has also deemed it appropriate to reduce the price of the M9 down to 1,669 Yuan from 2,009 Yuan.
