iMAME app pulled from iTunes App Store

Just the other day we reported that the iMAME app managed to make its way past Apple’s strict guidelines and into the iTunes App Store. However it appears that the app has now been pulled and we can’t say that we’re too surprised to have learnt about that. For those unfamiliar, iMAME is basically an app for iOS that allows users to run emulations of arcade games of the past and what not. While the app itself is fairly innocuous, the ROMs of old arcade games could be treated as theft/piracy/copyright violations/etc which is why Apple had originally forbade emulation apps like iMAME in the first place. Exactly how it made its way past Apple’s check is unknown, but it looks like Apple wasted no time in taking it down. For those who managed to download it, you may want to hold on to it although there’s really no way of telling if it will still continue to run after iOS gets updated in the future.
