Dell 7-inch Streak discontinued in the US
Dell has decided to stop rolling out there 7″ Streak tablet, at least for folks living in the US. This is the larger sized sibling of the 5″ Streak model which incidentally, was also discontinued earlier in 2011. If you happen to point your browser towards the official product page of the 7″ Streak tablet, it states that this “Streak 7 is no longer available online”. Of course, if you do want to pick up a copy for yourself, you can do so in other markets save for the US.
What is the reason behind this move? Well, slow sales definitely contributed to the stopping of sales of the device, not to mention reviews that did not exactly cause the Streak to glow, as well as competition from other tablets like the Galaxy Tab in the 7″ segment. Heck, there is also the issue of low-cost specialized devices from Barnes & Noble (Nook Tablet) and Amazon’s Kindle Fire. It does seem as though Dell is going to pull out from the Android tablet market in the US, and it remains to be seen whether they would plunge into this market down the road, assuming Windows 8 performs as promised.

Dell Venue Pro on the receiving end of Windows Phone Tango update
The Dell Venue Pro comes has one advantage this time around, where it is on the receiving end of the Windows Phone Tango update. After all, this is not exactly the newest smartphone around, and to see the hardware still being supported is definitely worth a look. The Venue Pro is nearly a couple of years in age, and has the virtue of being one of the first Windows Phone powered devices to arrive at the market, so to see it being supported by the latest updates is always an encouraging sight.
To date, it was revealed that only one user in Germany was on the receiving end of this update on his handset, although others should follow suit pretty soon. Do bear in mind that this is not the Windows Phone 7.8 update which was promised to current Windows Phone 7.5-powered devices, and there is no certainty that this particular device will receive the update as well. Still, to see Dell extend such support is always worth mulling over.
