RIM demos native email, calendar and contacts app for Playbook

We know that RIM has an update in the works for the Blackberry Playbook. This update is expected to be a major one that will bring several missing features onto the Blackberry. This includes email, calendar and contact synchronization with Blackberry smartphones, and it seems that these features were demoed to those who have attended the Blackberry Innovation Forum.

As you can see above, the email client looks to be similar in design to the app found on Blackberry smartphones, which we’re guessing is a good thing since it will not require Blackberry owners to relearn how to use it. The calendar and contact app also appears to follow in this design’s footsteps.

Unfortunately there does not appear to be a video demo of the features above, probably due to some NDA that RIM has imposed on Blackberry Innovation Forum attendees. The update is expected to hit Playbook devices come 17th of February 2012, so if you’re a Blackberry smartphone owner looking to sync your emails, calendars and contacts with your Playbook effortlessly, you might want to keep an eye out for the update.
