Kindle Fire hacked to run CyanogenMod 7

If you bought the Amazon Kindle Fire more for its price and value for money rather than its e-book capabilities and Amazon’s custom Android UI, you’ll be pleased to know that a successful hack of the Kindle Fire has allowed CyanogenMod 7 to run on it. The good news is that CyanogenMod 7 fans will eventually be able to get the ROM up and running on their Kindle Fire tablets, but the bad news is that this appears to be more of a proof of concept for now with no public release (yet).

The numerous issues that is plaguing the ROM is probably one of the reasons why it has yet to be released to the public. No word on when this will be made available, but if you’re interested in keeping track of its progress, just head on down to the XDA Forums for more information.
