Adobe Flash will not be available for Android 5.0

We know that Adobe has announced their plans to stop supporting Flash for mobile devices, and it seems that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus does not come with Flash Player preinstalled. According to Google, they are waiting for Adobe to update Flash Player for Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 before releasing it, which seems a little odd considering that Adobe will cease to support Flash for mobile platforms.

However the good/bad news is that yes it is true, Adobe will be updating Flash Player for Ice Cream Sandwich, but the bad news is that ICS 4.0 is probably the last Android platform you will see that will come with support for Flash. This means that come Android 5.0 there will no longer be support for Flash, although critical bug fixes and security updates will still be provided.

If you constantly rely on Flash on your mobile device, perhaps it’s time to start weaning yourself off it, or find an alternative such as HTML5.
