There have been rumors several weeks ago that suggested that Sony was interested in buying Ericsson out in their joint venture – Sony Ericsson. With Sony foraying into Android products of their own with the Tablet S and Tablet P, we can’t say we’re that much surprised to find out that Sony may be interested in releasing handsets under their own name.
The deal was announced and Sony will be buying out Ericsson for €1.05 billion, but at the moment nothing is finalized, but assuming regulatory bodies approve this deal, the deal should be closed in January of 2012.
