Samsung Galaxy Nexus’s display not as sharp as the Galaxy S2

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus looks like one heck of a phone with hardware specs to boot and with a rather sleek design. However unlike the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Nexus does not seem to be sporting the Super AMOLED Plus display, but rather your standard Super AMOLED.

So what does this mean? Well, it’s still a fantastic looking display but the main difference is that unlike the Plus displays, the regular Super AMOLED uses the PenTile system, which reportedly results in a lower overall sub-pixel density, reduced sharpness and with color rendition not being as good. We’re guessing that when it comes to the layman who may not have the eye for telling apart the Super AMOLED Plus and Super AMOLED, this shouldn’t be an issue, but for those curious, this means that in terms of relative value, the Galaxy Nexus has the same number of sub-pixels as the iPhone 4/4S.
