Driving while using Siri is illegal in California

One of the cool things about Siri is that it lets you perform a variety of tasks on your iPhone 4S without having to touch the device at all, save for activating Siri, and so you could be forgiven for thinking that using Siri while driving to send text messages and reply emails would be legal. As it turns out it’s not, according to California police.

It seems that while it’s legal to use Siri while driving, it only becomes illegal when the device is in your hand, which seems a little pointless considering that you’d have to hold the home button for a few seconds to activate Siri. However this is just applies to California state law, we’re not sure how the rest of the world operates.
