Developers working on Siri port to iPhone 4

One of the key features of the iPhone 4S would be Siri, the voice assistant feature that allows the user to perform a variety of tasks, such as dictating a message/email, searching the web, checking the weather, etc. There has been much speculation as to why Siri is only available for the iPhone 4S, while it could technically work on the iPad 2 or even the iPhone 3GS. Some are saying that it is used as a selling point, and if it were to be available on other iOS devices, the iPhone 4S would stop being so popular.

Now the good news is that there is one developer hard at work in his attempts to port Siri over to the iPhone 4. He seems to be making good progress, but the major roadblock here is that Siri seems to be unable to connect to Apple’s servers. At the moment all the port can do on the iPhone 4 is display its interface and animations, but we expect that eventually developers will be able to get something working. In the meantime you can check out the video here to see the progress.
