Sonim XP1301 is a rugged phone with NFC capabilities

If you’re not in the market for the newest and shiniest smartphone, perhaps Sonim might have the answer for you with their XP1301. For those unfamiliar, Sonim is a company that has been known to put out rugged devices, which aren’t necessarily the best in hardware specs but should be able to take a beating or two. It’s a niche market they’re targeting but I guess they have their fans.

The XP1301 is the company’s latest device and as usual it is pretty darn tough. It has been advertised to be able to withstand temperatures as cold as -20C and as hot as +55C and can be submerged underwater of a depth of 2m for an hour. It has also been said to be able to withstand a drop from 2m. On top of that it even comes with NFC enabled.

Like we said, this isn’t your typical phone that is marketed to the general audience, but for those with jobs that require them to be in rough terrain, the Sonim XP1301 is something worth checking out. It is expected to retail for $485.
