Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0 up for pre-order

If you’re in the market for a portable media player and the iPad or iPod touch isn’t your thing, the good news is that Samsung’s Android PMPs, the Galaxy Player 4.0 and Galaxy Player 5.0 are now up for pre-order.

For those unfamiliar with either device, the Galaxy Play 4.0 sports a 4” SCLCD 800×480 display with Gingerbread 2.3.5 as its choice of platform. It will also sport a 3.2MP camera that is capable of 720p video recording, along with a front-facing VGA camera for video chat. It will come with 8GB of internal storage but will sport a microSD card slot for up to an additional32GB of memory expansion.

The Galaxy Player 5.0 does not differ much from the 4.0, except with a 5” TFT display along with a bigger battery of2500mAh, which is more than double that of the Galaxy Player 4.0. They’re both up for pre-order at the moment and will set you back $229 and $260 for the Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 respectively. They’re expected to start shipping come 16th October.
