Otterbox case does not suggest imminent release of iPhone 4S/5

Case manufacturers are probably driving themselves crazy waiting for the iPhone 4S/5 to launch because then they would be able to push out new cases for the device. While manufacturers in China supposedly are pushing out cases for the iPhone 5, a recent banner from case maker Otterbox seemed to suggest that there will be an iPhone 4S/5 next month.

Now before you get all excited thinking that maybe a reputable case manufacturer like Otterbox knows something we don’t, TUAW called the company who told them this:

“We gave Kelly Richardson of Otterbox a call today and she clarified the matter. “We’re not even quite sure ourselves,” she told TUAW, talking about whether there would be one model or two.

She explained that the ad reflected the current conversations going on in the blogosphere. “Like many, we are watching the rumor sites and using information to plan ahead as much as we can.” Otterbox promises support for whatever iPhone debuts, but they’re emphatically not stating or leaking anything further. “We do not have any confidentiality agreements with Apple,” Richardson told TUAW.”
