Motorola Photon “sleep of death” solution

Published

on

Apparently there have been several Motorola Photon users who have been experiencing “sleep of death” issues where the device will shut down at random intervals. We’re not sure how widespread the problem is but there definitely have been some issues.

Well one Android user from the AndroidForums has discovered that perhaps this is more of an hardware issue as opposed to a software issue. It seems that the battery in the phone is not secure, which means when the device is moved about the battery’s connection with the terminals is lost, thus causing the device to shut off (much like pulling the battery for a hard reset).

His solution was to create some sort of cushioning to secure the existing gap, and according to him it works. Granted it’s not an elegant solution but it seems to work. Short of taking your device back to Sprint, perhaps this is one solution you can try if you’re experience “sleep of death” issues.
