iPhone 5 lost in bar…again?!

Published

on

Last year when the iPhone 4 was about to debut, an Apple engineer accidentally left the device at a bar, prompting a huge fiasco that resulted in the police raiding the house of an ex-Gizmodo editor and prompting a law suit. While there is the say “history repeats itself”, we never thought it would repeat itself in such a way that the details are almost exact.

Now it seems that CNet has reported that the iPhone 5 has been misplaced at a bar, to be more specific a bar in San Francisco. Wanting to avoid another unveiling ahead of time, Apple reportedly used the phone’s GPS to track it down where they tracked it to a house. The owner of house allowed the police and Apple’s team to search his house but they apparently ended up finding nothing, with the man claiming that he was not in possession of the device.

It seems that the device was sold on Craigslist for a meager sum of $200, which is disappointingly low given that the iPhone 4 was sold for $5,000. Unfortunately there are no photos or proof regarding this situation apart from CNet’s report, so I guess we will have to take this with a grain of salt, although we have to admit we can’t wait to see if a photo will eventually leak!
