China Telecom reportedly gearing up for iPhone 5

With China Unicom being the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the past, China Telecom has been reported to be one of the carriers that will bring in the purported iPhone 5, and if the reports are to be believed, those living in China can start pre-ordering the iPhone 5 at the end of September, with the sales of the handset starting in October. These dates seem to corroborate with the rumors, although we’re not sure if China Telecom is basing these dates of rumors or if they have some insider information.

According to the report, it seems that the carrier has started to prepare for the launch and are conducting staff training for the handset. On top of that, it has been suggested that China Telecom will be spending 1.5 billion Yuan ($234.5 million) on marketing under the initiative they’re calling “Dragon Plan”.

Let’s hope that these carriers know something that we don’t, otherwise that would be $234.5 million spent on marketing a device that has yet to be announced.
