Sometimes it seems that other countries such as Japan get all the cool stuff first, which was the case with the Sharp Galapagos tablet which was spotted in Japan’s version of the FCC back in June. Well fret not, as you may recall about a month back we reported that the tablet was spotted the US FCC which meant that a release of the Galapagos tablet in the US could be possible and nearing.

It appears that the Japanese version of the Galapagos has recently been launched and has been spotted running on Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 operating system, which is the latest variant of Honeycomb that was specifically created for tablets of the 7” variety.

It also packs an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 resolution display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, GPS, 2MP / 5MP front and rear cameras with flash, microSD and micro HDMI ports and various sensors that include a gryoscope, accelerometer and light sensor.

No word on how much it will retail for in Japan although it is expected to retail come August. Let’s hope that the US version will follow shortly.
