Ice Cream Sandwich to be released in October?

Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich update is imminent as they had announced it during Google I/O earlier this year. As to when we can expect to see the update is still unclear although there are now reports that Google may be pushing the release of Ice Cream Sandwich to October, as opposed to end of the year when it was first announced.

The first device to run on Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to make an appearance in October, and the reasoning behind this is because Google does not want users whose contracts are expiring around that time to jump ship to iPhone 5, which is expected to see a release come September/October.

If that is indeed the case, we will be seeing a showdown between iOS 5 and Ice Cream Sandwich – possibly even Mango as well.
