AT&T to sell $8 billion of their network to get T-Mobile merger approved

It’s been a while and there’s still no word on how the AT&T and T-Mobile merger is progressing. It seems that there has been much opposition to the merger and not just from Sprint, but from other public advocate groups along with Senator Al Franken. According to Sprint, AT&T has enough spectrum and there are ways to free those resources up, none of which would require AT&T to acquire T-Mobile.

Now it seems that AT&T is looking to sell about $8 billion or more of its network, in hopes that it would get regulatory approval to acquire T-Mobile. We’re not sure how this might convince the FCC to approve the acquisition as even the sales of assets is said to still give AT&T a clear majority of the cellphone market.
