Sony Ericsson Xperia Play headed to AT&T

For those interested in getting their hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, it looks like the device will be making its way to AT&T. It was a rather quiet affair, no press conference or any fanfare surrounding the device, but either way Xperia Play fans on AT&T who could only envy Verizon users, will now be able to get their hands on the device. Just a quick refresher for those who forgot what the device will be offering:

  • 1 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon® II processor with Adreno 205 GPU
  • Android Gingerbread 2.3
  • Adobe® Flash® Player
  • 4-inch multi-touch display
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • VGA front-facing camera for still shots and video chatting
  • Support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail™, YouTube™, Google Talk™, Google Search™, Google Maps™, and access to more than 200,000 apps available to download from Android Market™
  • Mobile hotspot capability– share 3G connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices

Unfortunately AT&T did not specify when or how much the device will cost on contract, but given Verizon’s $199.99 pricing, we don’t expect AT&T to price it that much differently. It will also be available in a “stealth blue” color option, providing an alternative for users who may not have preferred the standard black color that it originally comes with.
