It seems that Android fragmentation has struck yet again. Given the fact that the Gingerbread 2.3 version of Android has been out for the past couple of months, LG still shipped out their Optimus 3D device with Froyo 2.2 installed. Be that as it may, you would think that the manufacturer would hurry to push out the Gingerbread 2.3 update to their customers, but according to reports, LG has said that those living in the UK will not be getting the Gingerbread 2.3 update for the Optimus 3D until October.
Granted October is still a relatively long way to go, it’s good that the manufacturer has given some sort of date, as vague as it may be. The bad news is that other regions may even get the update much later. I guess Optimus 3D users will just have to be patient.
