Is Apple preparing to ship out 5 million iPad 2’s this July?

According to some of Digitimes’ sources, it seems that Apple will be shipping about 5 million units of the iPad 2 this July. If this is true, then it looks like those rumors of an iPad 3 may turn out to be false.

There have been rumors which had made claims that Apple would be releasing the iPad 3 this year, which some claimed as ridiculous as Apple’s products generally tend to have a yearly cycle, not to mention it would probably anger and upset a lot of iPad 2 users who bought their tablets only a couple of months ago.

If the rumors did hold a grain of truth, then by right production of the iPad 2 should be slowing down in anticipation of the iPad 3, and pushing out 5 million more units in July can hardly be counted as “slowing down”, that is if those rumors are true. Either way, more iPad 2 stock should be good news as it will help alleviate the current shortage and put an end to those insanely long queues.
