Canadian Nexus S experiencing annoying search bug

It seems that in Canada, especially those on the Rogers network, Nexus S users have reported being plagued by a search bug that while may seem harmless, can actually prove to be rather annoying. The search function seems to be launching by itself even without laying a finger on the search softkey, which means during normal use of the phone i.e. during calls, texting, playing games, web surfing, etc, the search function will just randomly pop up.

Apparently this issue was first posted in April, and now several months later and over 500 responses corroborating the complaint, a solution has yet to be given to the problem. In severe cases this could pretty much render the Nexus S unusable, as the search function will continue to interrupt whatever the user was doing. In slightly less severe cases, the bug may prove to be an annoyance. However, despite how severe the problem may be, the issue definitely requires some addressing.
