Acer Iconia Tab A100 might be making its September launch after all
Remember the Acer Iconia Tab A100? It’s the 7-inch tablet from Acer which was delayed because Acer tried to get the Android Honeycomb 3.0 platform to work on it, which did not turn out so well, as Google has said before that Honeycomb was optimized for tablets bigger than 7-inches. This forced Acer to delay the launch of the A100 as they presumably had to change the platform to Android 2.x.
Well it seems that in Germany, Acer has put the A100 tablet back on launch for September, although we’re not sure if this is limited to just Europe or will it extend to the rest of the world as well.
Some have speculated that it’s due to the release of the Honeycomb 3.2 that allowed Acer to get back on track with the A100. For those who aren’t familiar with 3.2, it’s the version of Honeycomb that Google recently released that would allow it to be compatible with tablets in the 7-inch variety. A Walmart poster was also spotted but it advertised the A100 running on Froyo 2.2. Let’s hope that it was an old poster and that the A100 will indeed arrive with Honeycomb 3.2!
