Will The iPhone 5 Come With Dual LED Flash?

Previously there were rumors circulating the internet along with photos of what appeared to be a leaked photo of the back casing of the iPhone 5 that featured a hole for the camera and a hole for the LED flash except instead of typically being next to the camera lens, like the iPhone 4, it was moved to the other end of the device. Some say it was to reduce red eye, some claim it was a fake, etc. Now new rumors have popped up and this time it claims that the iPhone 5 will come shipped with dual LED flash instead.

The rumors have indicated that Taiwan-based LED packaging firms Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto and Lite-On Technology as potential suppliers and obviously all related companies have denied they are involved in the production of dual-LED flashes because either they really are not involved or knowing Apple’s tight-lippedness, they aren’t allowed to say anything. The rumors were apparently started due to indications that Apple reduced its orders for Lumileds high-power LED flash products from Philips recently and switched the orders for LED flashes to Taiwan makers.

If this is true it sort of makes sense that Apple has reduced orders from Philips because in other news it is said that Apple has started to slow down its production of the iPhone 4, so the reduced orders to Philips could be related to that and maybe Apple is going with a different supplier for their LED flashes instead. While we would have preferred if Apple went the Xenon route, dual LED flashes is still an improvement, assuming of course it’s true. Looks like we will have to wait until fall to find out.
