T-Mobile Trying To Lure Sprint, Verizon, AT&T Customers

Published

A while back Sprint in a protest to the impending AT&T and T-Mobile merger started putting out advertisements which offered better deals for customers who wanted to port in to Sprint, and now it looks like T-Mobile has decided to retaliate in kind by offering up free credit for porting in, ranging from $50-$100.

The promotion is currently being held in Denver, El Paso, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Providence, St. Louis, and Tampa and is only available to customers who purchase a smartphone or feature phone and is willing to be tied to a 2-year contract. As with standard carrier practices, these free credits will be credited at $10 a month until it is all paid off, assuming of course the customer’s account is in good standing, i.e. no overdue bills.

Now it makes sense for T-Mobile to try to lure Sprint and Verizon customers away but AT&T too? A bit odd considering if the AT&T and T-Mobile merger does go through essentially they will all be under the same carrier, so why try to poach AT&T’s customers? Unless they’re trying to be fair and not single out Sprint and Verizon.
