Qualcomm’s Quad Core Chips Coming Soon?

CEO of Qualcomm, Dr. Paul E.  Jacobs made a statement saying that quad core versions of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors should be coming soon. Their dual core processors have yet to make an appearance but if news that the HTC Sensation 4G and the EVO 3D will be coming soon then we should be seeing the power of their dual core processors.

Qualcomm’s announcement of their quad core processors is probably in response to NVidia’s Tegra 3 “Kal-El” quad core processors. Only recently did Qualcomm just do a video demonstration of their single core processors versus NVidia’s Tegra 2 dual core processors, so it’s really not that big a surprise to hear that they will be pushing out quad core processors soon.

Despite all of that, it’s highly likely that we will be seeing NVidia’s quad core processors hit the market first, after all there were some rumors a while back that suggested NVidia was working closely with Google which led to speculation that perhaps the Nexus 3 device will be a quad core smartphone running on NVidia’s Tegra 3 processor. Either way all this stiff competition can only be a good thing for us consumers because that means we will be getting the best that each company can give.
