Nokia Readying Update For N8’s Camera

Nokia’s N8 is one of the Finnish handset manufacturer’s high end Nokia phones and probably one of the last few declining Symbian devices we will be seeing. Despite their upcoming Microsoft Windows Phone 7 devices Nokia has previously promised that they will continue providing Symbian support for the next couple of years and it looks like they are holding true to their word as a software update to the N8’s camera should be rolling out soon to all N8 users.

The N8 came with a 12MP camera which is a great camera although there were certain improvements that users felt could be made, and it’s with this update that Nokia hopes to address those improvements. The update should bring along increased FPS when recording video, bringing it up to 30fps which would provide smoother clips during recording.

Continuous auto-focus is another improvement that the update will be bringing to the N8’s camera and it should work with both close-up subjects and subjects that are far away as the focus point will continuously update itself. These two features were confirmed by Nokia’s camera guru Damien Dinning. Previously these improvements could be had through a series of hacks and Nokia hopes to eliminate the need for those hacks with this update. No word yet on when the update will be rolling out.
