MOTOBLUR To Be Phased Out?

Chances are if you’re an Android user, custom user interfaces designed by the various handset manufacturers should be something you’re familiar with as it is one of the ways handset manufacturers use to set their devices apart from the competition. With HTC we have Sense, Samsung has TouchWiz and Sony Ericsson has Timescape, and in the case of Motorola, their custom UI is known as MOTOBLUR, at least it used to be.

Turns out that during the Motorola Photon 4G launch, the name MOTOBLUR was not mentioned and when Engadget decided to ask around, it turns out that according to Motorola officials that they were moving away from the name, partly due to public feedback regarding the UI, which is not one of the better loved custom Android user interfaces designed by the phone manufacturer.

If you’re one of those that hate the MOTOBLUR interface this does not mean it’s time to celebrate. Despite Motorola dropping the MOTOBLUR name it looks like they’re still set at keeping the user interface, not sure why as it seems the public dislikes the UI, not the name.
