iOS 5 Supports Other Social Networks Integration

Published

on

As we all know one of iOS 5’s features is the deep Twitter integration whereby a one-time login, iOS 5 will pull the contacts from the service and display them in Address Book, allow users to send out tweets with photos, maps, website URLs and videos attached from their respective Apps, all without having to go through a third party app like Tweetdeck for example. Now as popular as Twitter is, there’s no denying the popularity of Facebook, Myspace, Flickr and LinkedIn. In fact prior to Instagram, Flickr was a popular place for iPhone users to upload their photos to.

During Apple’s WWDC keynote they mentioned the Twitter integration but they did not mention the other social networking sites but as it turns out thanks to developers who got their hands on the iOS 5 beta, you will be able to enable the services of other social networking sites, as seen in the picture above. No word on whether Apple is planning to keep them around as Twitter was the only one mentioned in the keynote, either that or perhaps these services were not fully developed yet at the time of WWDC that’s why there was no mention of them.

Either way it’s great to see iOS 5 has expanded the social networking integration into other social networking sites and services.
