Huawei Launches 7-inch Tablet In Japan, Not The MediaPad

As the launch of the Huawei MediaPad is coming up, the news that Huawei has gone and launched a 7-inch tablet in Japan made us sit up in our seats. It couldn’t be the MediaPad as it was a rather quiet release and the MediaPad was set to be released at an event in Singapore come this 20th of June.

What the release in Japan was really just a budget tablet b y Huawei. The A01HW has got a 7-inch 1024 x 768 4:3 ratio display although no word on whether we are looking at a capacitive or resistive touch screen. The device is also powered by a somewhat old ARM Cortex A8 chip while running on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3 (at least it came with Gingerbread as opposed to Froyo 2.2) and comes packed with 512MB of RAM.

The A01HW also features a 1.3MP front / 3.0MP rear camera, a 4800mAh battery, GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, SDHC card reader, full sized USB and micro USB ports, with dimensions coming in at 12.6mm thick while weighing 500g, which seems like a pretty hefty device with such a small screen. No word on pricing but looking the specs we’re thinking perhaps you should wait for the MediaPad instead.
