CyanogenMod 7 Makes Its Way To The Droid X

Published

on

Yesterday we reported that Motorola was working on an update that would allow unlocking of their bootloaders. In fact Motorola’s bootloaders are known as one of the harder bootloaders to unlock, some have even jokingly suggested that the reason Motorola is taking so long to produce an update that would unlock their bootloaders is because their bootloaders are so secure and tight that even Motorola has a hard time breaking in.

Good news though, for Droid X users, because thanks to a developer CVPCS, a vanilla and stock version of Gingerbread for the Droid X is now available along with the CyanogenMod 7. Bad news is that this is still a rather early beta of the ROM and it is far from perfect, unless of course you don’t mind having a working camera or a working video recorder. If you own a Droid X and you can’t wait for the final release then just head on down here for more information about the ROM and the instructions.

As with all unofficial updates and apps, please make sure that you know what you are doing before proceeding and make backups of your data in the event that your device should brick or you lose all your data.
