Android Vs Wii U?

On first look it looks like the Wii U is reminiscent of the Sega Game Gear, either that or a tablet with joystick controls and buttons. Either way it has brought about certain mixed reactions from fans, some disappointed that there’s nothing really revolutionary coming to the Wii console, but others just loving the innovativeness of the Wii U.

If you’re wondering what sort of competition the Wii U could be bring to Android take a look at this video here demonstrating the various uses of the Wii U and you’ll soon be wondering doesn’t my tablet do that already? Android’s Open Accessory program already allows Android developers to develop custom accessories for Android devices but potentially the ability to build controllers similar to what the Wii U is offering at the moment. One of the advantages of Android tablets is their mobility and the ability to rely on 3G internet to access their games and internet connections while in areas without WiFi.

Nintendo on the other hand has the huge advantage of their games catalogue and experience in developing games and consoles over the past decade or so. It does seem unlikely that Google will be overtaking the big boys in game consoles any time soon but thanks to the open accessory program perhaps we might see some competition, or at least an alternative.
