Good news for UK residents because it looks like 4G services are on their way to being implemented. Right now volunteers are being seeked to test out this technology which is a joint effort between T-Mobile and Orange and it will be conducted in Cornwall, UK and the trial will be happening from September to December. Come 2013 networks in the UK will start the bidding for 4G spectrums.

The trial will act as an experiment to see if LTE technology could provide a cheaper solution for getting high-speed internet into places currently regarded as “black spots” with slow or no broadband connection. If you’re a resident in Cornwall and would like to take part in these trials, just head on down to the website and register. If you are successful you will be given the necessary equipment in order to test out the technology, which will include dongles for mobile devices such as laptops.

“Instead of building two networks, we’re trying to do it with one,” explained Emin Gurdeneli, VP of network services at Everything Everywhere.

“The customer will enjoy a broadband service at their premises, at their home etc, as if they had acquired it in the usual way. What will be different is our delivery mechanism.” UK hopes that by 2014 they will be able to roll out LTE technology nationwide.
