ViewSonic gTablet Gets Honeycomb

If you’re looking for a tablet that’s running on Google’s Android Honeycomb 3.0 but don’t want to spend more than $300, then ViewSonic’s gTablet would be the tablet you are looking for. Officially the tablet comes with Android’s Froyo 2.2 instead of Android Honeycomb if that’s what you were thinking, but as luck would have it, it seems a bunch of hackers have taken quite a shine to the gTablet and have figured a way to get Honeycomb 3.0.1 to run on it.

If you think that this is some crappy low end tablet you might want to rethink that as the gTablet is actually running on NVidia’s Tegra-2 processor and it is also overclockable until 1.6GHz. As it stands the hackers are still trying to get Adobe Flash, camera support and HD video playback to work but do keep an eye out if you own a gTablet and the thought of having it run on Honeycomb 3.0.1 really appeals to you.
