The Ramifications of AT&T-mobile
Naturally competitors of AT&T and T-mobile have been extremely vocal with regards to AT&T’s acquisition of T-mobile. With the acquisition of T-mobile there would be one less competitor standing in AT&T’s way but what are the ramifications of such an acquisition?
On the plus side with this acquisition not only will AT&T have access to more resources but they will also be able to provide greater coverage area and provide high speed mobile access to rural areas. Some have claimed that this acquisition will spell the end for Sprint mobile.
Senator Amy Klobuchar wrote in a letter to the CEO’s of AT&T and T-mobile “Wireless phones are increasingly becoming the sole means of telephone communication in this country, so it’s vital that competition in that industry remain robust,” and that “AT&T and T-Mobile ought to be forthright and transparent with their customers about the potential effects the merger might have on prices and the quality of service.”
Speaking from the grass-roots level how would AT&T’s acquisition affect you as a customer? The risk of a duopoly is there but if you were an AT&T and T-mobile customer how would you feel about your carrier being able to have better coverage? Either way a press conference call will be held to discuss said ramifications.
