Multi-purpose Gadget For iPhone – The Oona

The Oona is a Kickstarter project that has already taken off and for $30 it seems to serve many purposes, sort of like the Swiss Army Device for your iPhone. According to their Kickstarter page:

“We wanted to make a stand that can do as much as your smart phone does. A “stand” in name only, The Oona can help you utilize all the functions of your smart phone, such as:

• A GPS on the windshield of your car
• A reference device on a white board
• The ability to mount your smart phone to a tripod to take photos or video
• The gift to keep your hands free while watching a movie on your smart phone
• A simple stand to keep your phone in view on your desk at work
• Many more applications, we can’t possibly write all of them down”

The great thing about this is that it is made of aircraft grade aluminum rather than cheap plastic parts which is then polished and anodized for a strong scratch resistant finish and apparently it also fits in your pocket. The Oona in action in the kitchen is such a great idea; to be able to browse and read recipes online rather than flip through multiple books, and to be able to keep it off the table and away from the mess is a huge plus.
